FAQ
Do we keep the Polaroids, or our guests?
This is up to you! Most hosts want their guests to keep the print as a favor. However we can shoot two Polaroids for each group and they get to keep one, and you get to keep one!
How many Polaroids do we get?
This is very flexible and somewhat up to you! We have a base rate for our services and travel and then can add on however many prints you want. Generally people don’t visit the Portrait Booth alone, so for an event with 150 Guests, we would typically take 75 prints. If you, the host, would like your own copy of each print or to put them in a Guestbook that we can double the amount.
How is this different than a typical photobooth?
No one out there offers a Polaroid booth like we do! We offer the authentic and nostalgic experience of instant film with the best lighting while creating space for your guests to get the best pose.
Why would we have a booth when we can just put an Instax camera on our Welcome Table?
There is no comparison. Selfie Instax cameras are fine in a pinch and can be cute, but most of the photos come out mid to terrible. It’s so, so difficult to achieve good lighting with an instant camera. We offer the nostalgic gift of Polaroid with killer lighting so you and your guests will actually love the photos.
Do you have a backdrop for the Polaroid Booth?
We can add on one of our signature velvet backdrops no problem. We can also work with a space in your venue that already looks cool for photos.
What space or requirements do you need?
A 10x10 space with access to (ideally) two power outlets. All lighting, cameras, film and photo sleeves are provided. We'll coordinate with your venue and/or event planner to ensure a seamless setup.
What time do you need for setup & breakdown?
We like 2 hours for setup and 1 hour for breakdown.
What can I expect when I book with Velvet Frame?
We care deeply about our experiences and the clients that want the same thing! Before booking we will talk over the phone so that we can understand what feeling you want to cultivate and which offering is the best fit. To move forward together we will sign a contract. There is a 50% retainer due for events further than 3 months out. For events within 3 months, 100% of the payment is due at signing.
Do you charge a travel fee?
We are currently based in Nevada City, California. There is no travel fee for events within 75 miles of our location. For events further than 75 miles we charge a travel fee for gas and hotel stipend. We offer discounted travel rates for Santa Cruz and Santa Rosa.
